Not one for poetry and performance art it’s actually quite surprising that I found the work of Rives as riveting and thought provoking as I did. That being said, I’m posting three videos on my site about him. There isn’t a whole lot to say other than this is the first performance artist/poet to really catch my eye, even through all those years as an art major at Northern Michigan University I was never able to really grasp the art of spoken word outside of music. The following has changed that.
Rives remixes TED 2006
The first comes from TED Conference 2006 in February of 2006. It’s an amazing imagery of what the TEDers will do once they leave the conference, and what we should all do when we have the spark of a new or life changing idea…share it.
I love using Twitter. That being said, I’m SICK of the redundancy! Raise your hand if you are with me in saying that you are a bit tired of seeing the same tweets between all your devices. I’ve got UberTwitter on my Blackberry, the Web Interface, Tweetie for my Mac…I just want to TWEET! I don’t care what others are doing, I just want to get my thoughts out! Finally there is an AMAZING way to do this, using Quicksilver. Check out what codahale (blog.codahale.com) has done with Applescript. Drop his script into your ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions/ folder, re-start Quicksilver, and you are in action.
Tweeting from Quicksilver is fun!
You can get the whole story and the easy installation instructions over at blog.codahale.com.
All you have to do is engage Quicksilver, hit ‘.’ to enter the text mode, then type your tweet, hit tab, then select ‘Tweet’ as the action. It’s easy, quick, and you don’t have to be constantly bothered by what other people are doing at the moment, which helps you get more work done
Version 2.0 of the Updated Today Plugin has been pushed live. You can get it over at Wordpress.org. Some noticeable updates are a new ‘Settings’ page that allow you to change the image, location, and pngfix settings from within the Wordpress Administration area. Let me know what you think!
